Ann Curry

Ann Curry is an American photographer and journalist. She has been reporting for more than 45 years focusing on the people suffering from conflict zones as well as natural disasters. Curry has covered wars across the globe, including Kosovo Iraq Syria Lebanon Palestine Afghanistan Darfur Congo. Ann Curry was an American journalist, reporter for the TV news as well as host. She is most known as a correspondent for the Today program which is a morning-time broadcast news program aired on NBC. Curry was well-known for her reporting on natural catastrophes and war torn countries. Curry was born in Japan and was brought up by a Japanese mom. Her father served as an U.S. Navy sailor. Her father dated his mother in Japan as a stationed there following World War II. They were frequently in and out of the country due to her dad's military service. Curry completed high school within Ashland Oregon. She graduated with a journalism degree at The University of Oregon in 1978. Curry attended various schools including San Diego Alameda Oregon Virginia as well as Virginia. Finally, she graduated Ashland High School. Her broadcasting career began as an internship with KTVL Channel 10 Medford in Oregon. When she was 22, she eventually became the first journalist female at the station. After that, she moved to reporting and anchoring at KGW, an NBC-affiliated station located in Portland. After that, she moved to Los Angeles four years later to work as a reporter for KCBS TV. In her time with the channel she was awarded two Emmy Awards.
